Noise.io Review Pt. I

So after Noise.io was
released officially yesterday we are now allowed to review that thing here. I was able to play around with that incredible piece of software for the last 6 days as one of the few lucky bastards out in the world.

I’ll start with just dropping some facts you could easily get from the Noise.io site anyway.
- ESFM Style Synthesis

- two oscillators “Brother” & “Sister”
- Noise generator “Noizer”
- parallel Filter TP, HP, Peak +/- (Notch), EXTRA TP (That one is the one you want!)
- ADSR envelopes for Filter, Oscillators and Noise gen

- 3-Band EQ, 6 FX (2 Delays, Chorus/Flanger, Phaser, Bitcrusher and Distortion)
- 3 types of sequencers with 4 individual patterns each: Pitch sequencer, Trance gate (you could have said Volume Sequencer for the folks that hate the term “trance gate”), Modulation Sequencer

- 2 LFOs and a Random generator (S&H)
- 8 configurable “Axis” with 5 modulation sources: left-right. up-down finger movements on the screen, 2nd finger distance “multitouch” and accelerometer roll and tilt.
- you can route those sources (with min to max values) on many parameters of the synthesis

So those facts up there don’t cover to 1% why that thing is so cool! Just one thing you can already tell by that is: $9.99 / 7.99 Euro is way to less for that synthesizer judged by features and sound, even if it would be just a plug-in on your computer!

So why is it so cool than? First of all:
because it is so dedicated to the iPhone-multitouch-take-it-wherever-you-go platform
Second:
as a result of this you start building patches again. I found no software GUI so intuitive and inviting to start building own sounds instead of skipping thru presets. You start touching your synthesizer again.

I’ll post some more thoughts over the next few days here until then you can watch their ad:

But now: go and get it!
